I found this sweet little mixing bowl at a church thrift shop a couple of weeks ago. (Church thrift shops exert a strange gravitational pull, which I am unable to drive past). The Pyrex company is still in operation and manufacturing in the United States after nearly 100 years. They started out in 1913 as a laboratory and industrial glass company and happened to enter our kitchens quite by accident. This bowl was most likely made in the 1950s. I love that it looks both vintage and modern, and is still as useful and pretty after more than 50 years. We have several new Pyrex pieces in our kitchen which we use daily for baking, measuring, storing and mixing. I like that the objects are well designed, useful and not made to be thrown away – something rare these days. This bowl is for sale at our Etsy shop.
