Wovenplay

Wovenplay, my very favorite children’s clothing company had a sample sale on Valentine’s day last week.  (Such a nice Valentine!)  Chris does not understand purposefully paying money for something with a hole cut out of it.  But Wovenplay’s pieces are so beautiful – like little pieces of art-  that the small price tag of a sample is well worth a few small repairs.  I added some vintage green paillettes to the cape to cover a screen-printed ink smudge.  The triangle of polka dot fabric was once a Marni dress pocket.   The bibbed jumper was not flawed, but will likely end up dyed after a few wears.  (Light colors don’t usually last too long around my messy beasts).  Josie will wear the cape for her upcoming birthday party, and I am counting the days until warm weather for the other pieces to get their turn.  Thank you Wovenplay!

Some of my favorite clothes for the girls are vintage finds from thrift and resale shops.  Clementine Consignment in Manhattan and LuLu’s Then and Now in Brooklyn are frequent stops for us.  These resale shops also buy gently used clothing and will donate items they can’t resell, so they are a great resource for moving your kids’ outgrown items.  We got this sweater at LuLu’s for under $10, changed out boring buttons for pretty vintage ones and added black lace over the pockets.  Flea markets, Ebay and Etsy always have great stashes of vintage trims and buttons.  We keep ours in these big glass storage jars.  Our little white sweater is now as Josie would say: “fancy”.

We are excited to be part of this year’s
Renegade Craft Fair!  The fair is this weekend – Saturday and Sunday, June 23rd and 24th, in Williamsburg’s East River Park, directly adjacent to the Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea. We will be there from 11 AM until 7 PM, near the entrance at booth No. 12. We hope to see you!

Soor Ploom:
Our clothing is for babies and toddlers, ranging from 6 months to 4 years. Each of our fabrics are hand-selected for quality and style. They include soft linens, fine cottons, and unique blends with silk. Made in Brooklyn, the quality and construction of the clothing is impeccable, and methods of manufacturing are sustainable. The collection is classic and simple, basic but not ordinary.

Jeanne Rondeau:
Jeanne Rondeau’s headband crowns are made by hand in Brooklyn and incorporate vintage fabrics, beads, sequins and feathers. They are special enough for a wedding or party and comfortable enough for everyday play. Each piece carefully crafted and one of a kind.  The crowns make a beautiful addition to a child’s costume collection and also come in adult sizes.

I’ve been excited about making these headband crowns for kids lately.  Yesterday we found out that my friend Marissa at Soor Ploom and I got into Etsy’s Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fair.  Hooray!  We will be selling our children’s clothes and crowns on June 23 and 24 in Willamsburg.  I’ll put up more details as the weekend gets closer.  For now I need to get crafting!

(The crowns and Soor Ploom’s sweet clothes are also both available at Acorn Toys if you can’t wait until June).
