We have been longing for warmer days and our Friday forecast calls for sun and 80 degrees. This bubblesuit from a 1971 Simplicity pattern (#9395) is perfect for a toddler in summer weather. I think my sister had a similar one when she was little. The vintage fabric is from Ebay – I love the abstract bright figures. You can find similar ones on Etsy here. Be sure to check the quality and yardage when you are buying vintage fabric. This Simplicity pattern also comes with a matching pinafore- so cute! I’ve made a few versions of both from different fabrics and they are some of our favorite warm weather outfits.

Ada requested matching sister dresses recently. I’d already begun one for her before Josie was born and the request was a good excuse to finish. (Not to mention the small window of time when they still think it is cool to dress like a sibling). These are from a 1972 McCall’s pattern- #3470. I love vintage patterns! Etsy and Ebay always have several. I tweaked the pattern a bit to fit Josie and used some vintage violet print fabric that I’d been saving. The beautiful Liberty print I cut Ada’s from was no longer available. Ada likes to point out that they are not technically matching, but they like to wear them together anyway.

We found these awesome wooden cat masks at Ben Franklin Crafts in Raymond, NH of all places…I find that towns with high 4-H participation and winters that keep people inside are the best crafting supply troves. You can also find the masks here on Ebay: Cat Mask. Oh Ebay how I love you.
Ada seems to have confused ‘nine lives’ with ‘nine eyes’. Oh well.
